AFAlive Marathon

Near the end of the summer, I had the chance to be contacted by a friend for a charity marathon being organized in favor of an association for Crohn disease and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). The association is called Association François Aupetit (AFA), and the plan was to play for 24 hours in order to raise awareness to the condition, and raise founds to help the research and patient assistance.

alvarum - CopyFrom 5pm on the 6th of September, then all through the night and day until 6pm on the 7th, we had a nice planning, with some pretty popular personalities from the french gaming community. We streamed on the new streaming platform hitbox.tv. The delay being around 2 to 5 seconds, communication was easier. For the french-speaking wanderers out there, here is the link to the event’s website : AFAlive marathon.

As it was a very amazing moment with everyone, we will certainly continue to do a charity marathon once a year. We did not expect that much love and support from our newly formed community. We had the chance to meet one another, to share, and help a cause that needs it. Thanks to everyone, we may have made a small change. Or at least, it showed us that even without much means, we could create something together, and restore our faith in humanity. With 256 donations, we raised 6 180 euros ! And to remember that fantastic event, I drew a little something.
